« Rock Baby Rock Wedding » sums up Ilonka & Yannick’s wedding last fall. Let me tell you a little bit about their story.
We met at Le Pointu in Lausanne for tea. There she told me about her wedding. Ilonka & Yannick experienced love at first sight. Who could have thought that a non-conformist hides behind this discreet and shy woman? Those who know me are aware that anti-normality is my thing. Especially when it comes to hair styles, but that’s another topic…
He’s a rock fan, a volunteer in a concert hall in La Chaux de Fonds, a bit of a dandy. She is a fan of Celine Dion with a couple romantic tattoos and sleeps half the week in her pad. Their wedding was ready to start. The secular ceremony was held in an old abandoned train station, and the evening celebrations took place in Yannick’s concert hall. That’s all it took for me to fall in love with this wedding before I even experienced it. We met again a few weeks before the wedding. Yannick and I got to know each other. We looked forward to meeting again on September 29, 2018!
The big day arrived. We got up at dawn to go to the Barber Shop at 9am. This place comes straight out of an old movie in New York. We then went to Ilonka’s vintage hairdressing salon, and to the Maison Dubois in Le Locle for the final preparations of this beautiful wedding. Each person has their own floor and their own room. Then it was time to go to the ceremony venue where we met Tania Kohler, from Bleu Je Te Veux in Fribourg, a secular, engagement ceremony officiant, symbolic… or whatever you want to call her. Anti-conformist, as I said. Ilonka came first with her godson, followed by Yannick and his niece. The ceremony culminated with French music, rock’n’roll, poignant speeches, laughter and tears to the sound of Rocky. Like boxers, they were overwhelmed with hugs at the cocktail ring.
We did the traditional group photos, we toasted again and then we moved on to the wagons for a romantic reunion scene. Time to take a breather and meet up face to face. Time for couple shots. The end. We jumped into the old Simca and headed off to La Chaux de Fonds to party at the Bikini Test! The simple concert hall looked its best thanks to Chantal from mademoiselle C and Anne from Histoires de Fleurs. The place looked incredible! What better way to take fun pictures than with the Shakebox photobooth that you can rent from me? Laser, strobe lights and light corridor, spinning on the dance floor. Time to go home. We take our leave.
I worked with Jérémy Sauterel, a local photographer. Many guests were expected so he helped me capture all the important moments of the day. The quality of the photo report we produced was crucial to me! Thanks to him for his great work.
Thanks to them for trusting me. A big thanks also for accepting the submission of this report to a great Wedding Blog « Queen For A Day ».
